Polarcus selected a Sea-Hawk SHN X9 radar for their
2 newbuilds; m/v Polarcus Amani & m/v Polarcus Adira.
These two vessels are purposely built for Advanced
Seismic Survey Projects up in the High North.
Polarcus deployed two ICE-1A class vessels, and one ICE-1A* class vessel to complete two 3D surveys offshore Greenland in the world’s largest Arctic seismic exploration program to date, in Baffin Bay, about 600 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle off the coast of western Greenland.
Experiences from last Summers operation in Baffin Bay, west of Greenland was presented by Paul Herfjord. Our experiences with use of Polarimetric Radars were shared with the audience. The Sea-Hawk Ice detection Radar was in operation on 12 vessels during Seismic operations.
